I Don't Know Why, but I Joined Facebook

I created an account and now I'm flailing around like an idiot. I feel like an old hag cuz I don't really get it. What's facebook for anyways? Fun? Dating? Networking? Is it like the new friendster? Am I sUppOSed 2 wRITe liKE tHiS? I created a friendster account a few years ago and then abandoned it. I wonder if the same will happen here. Apart from not being able to navigate my facebook page, my problem is that I don't want to reveal much personal info. Seems like a big part of it is listing your interests, schools and uploading pictures....

I totally know what you mean--I just got 2 requests to join facebook in the last couple of weeks! Are they giving out prizes or something? I don't know if I can motivate to create the account. Obviously, Friendster is so over, so I suppose we should be joining Facebook or myspace but I just don't want to bother.
When did I become such a cranky old woman?

i joined after getting a couple requests. i thought, hey, why not, i can be an early adapter for once. hip like that. but then i joined and instantly had second thoughts. i already check my email and blog a gazillion times a day, do i really need to add facebook?

if you join, let me know. there's this thing where you can 'poke' me. whatever that means.

"Poke"? Yikes. This reminds me of the disgusting "finger" command we had in college (back in the day, so it was telnet, i think). You could "finger" someone to see if they were online and to see a primative equivalent of a homepage. Eeeccch!
