Your Behaviour is Very Naughty
I'm generally not one for reality shows, but I'm beginning to like Supernanny. Airing on Monday nights, the show follows English nanny Jo Frost as she goes into American homes to help parents straighten out their misbehaving children. Some of the kids are crazy violent and foul-mouthed; I cringe watching them. But Supernanny, with her stern, but warm, can-do attitude, comes to the rescue and by the end of the episode things are looking up.

I have been a fan of Supernanny for a long time, but do you honestly think that the same, cliched advice works equally well on all kids, big and small? A competitor channel ran a similar show for a while, but instead of one Supernanny, they had a supernanny panel of three. It just wasn't the same. Jo is coolest when she tells the parents how terribly they spoil their children--and make those parents cry. All in all, good stuff. Pam
Jo is great, that's for sure. Did you see this week's episode? One of the kids was a five year old who hit and kicked his mom and the mom didn't have the nerve to stand up to him. It was almost unwatchable. I've seen a few episodes so far and I'm always struck by how clever and perceptive the kids are. They learn at an early age who they can manipulate and abuse.
As for the cliched advice... I think that the same advice (with some tweaks) can work on most kids. The presentation and approach may have to change a bit depending on age and maturity, but the advice might be universal...
Admittedly, I did not see this show but there was an article about it in our local paper. What was most interesting is not a single one of these women actually HAS children!
However, I did like a quote that was attributed to Jo, it said something like "parenting is just common sense" and that is what's really lacking these days.
I highly recommend South American nannies. I've had two of them.
Supernanny is the only reality TV persona that reduces me to tears consistently. Although immediately afterwards I have to watch Ultimate Fighting just to reestablish my manhood.
