National Parks Rock!

Part of the fun of going to national parks is getting the brochure. I was admiring our collection the other day, putting them in alphabetical order, then reverse alphabetical order, then random, then back in alphabetical order. I like how they have a uniform design-- black band over a panaramic shot of the park.

The National Parks Pass that we bought on our cross-country trip last year expires in August. I'd like to see Death Valley and Glacier before then. There's something very calming about going to a national park. Even for a city mouse like me. The people in the parks are happier and friendlier. Your day job seems insignificant. It's just you and the sun or the cave or the sand...

Cool. National Parks brochures are fantastic. If they are not yet in the design/print section of the MoMA, they need to be. They are at least as fine, if not finer, than the NYC subway signs, which are in the design section of the MoMA.

Also, the Octopus has finally figured out that though your Nat.Park brochures are alphabetized, your links are not. So the Octopus is confused as to why he is so far down on the list of links. Could we get moved to the top, por favor?

alphabetizing chanchow's links will not move the octopus into a more prominent position. however, chanchow understands your sadness and confusion and has moved octopus to the top of the list...for now.

Also, just wanted to mention that they have come up with some promising treatments for Asperger's Syndrome. Just FYI.

Come over and see our (well, the boy's) collection of national parks brochures, as it puts most to shame. He is just bonkers for the brochures, and I have to admit that they have a unique grace.
Btw, did you guys get the National Parks Passport (you can stamp it at every national park)? I wish we'd gotten one, but I didn't know about it until it was way too late. Bummer.

No, I didn't get a National Parks Pass, although now I really really wish that I had. Oh, the stamps I could've gotten on our x-country trip last year. Sigh...

I also wish I had kept the brochures I got from family trips growing up-- Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Grand Canyon. I suppose I'll just have to visit them again to get the brochures.

What is your favorite national park? Mine is Grand Teton.

I pretend to hate all national parks, just to annoy the boy. But my favorite for coolness is Mesa Verde and my favorite for pretty is Bryce Canyon. Great Sand Dunes in Colorado is also awesome (and would have been even better if we'd brought saucers to slide down the dunes) and has a diner nearby that serves the most scrumptious fresh-baked pies ever. Mmmmmm.
